Sales Returns & Stock Adjustments
Goods returned? Keep both the bill and account clear.
When a farmer returns some goods, reducing the dues alone is not enough. Record the original bill, returned items, condition of the goods and the money adjustment.

Follow these 3 simple steps
Open the original bill
Select the bill for that sale. Check the returned items and quantities; do not return more than the remaining returnable quantity.
Record the condition of the goods
Usable goods that can be sold again go back into stock. Opened or damaged goods are kept separate.
Check the money adjustment
A return reduces dues first. Any excess can become customer credit. Record a refund, its amount and method only when you actually return the money.
Plain words: batch = number printed on the packet · unit = bag/kg/bottle · correction = undoing an incorrect entry.
Before saving
Check the details once
A wrong name or amount can cause confusion later. Check against your customer and shop records.
- Are the original bill and returned quantities correct?
- Can the goods be sold again, or must they be kept separate?
- Was money refunded, or was customer credit only created?
Your questions
What should I do if…?
Does usable returned stock increase?
Yes. Marking the return as saleable adds the correct quantity back into stock. Keep damaged or opened goods separate.
Should I delete the bill and make a new one?
No. Keep the original bill and its return record. This makes sales, returned goods and the customer account easier to understand later.
What if I saved a wrong return or refund?
As the owner, open Reports → ‘Wapas samaan aur paise ka register’. For a wrong return, open its entry in ‘Wapas samaan ka register’ and choose ‘Galat return? Sudharein’. For a wrong refund, choose ‘Sudharein’ in ‘Paise wapas ka register’. Read the effect, enter a reason and confirm what actually happened. Do not reverse a payment that was genuinely paid just to match the account; this does not move Bank/UPI money.
